What are the working principles of the tension control system of the unwinder?

Detection link: The tension of the coil is monitored in real time through the tension sensor. The tension sensor is usually installed at an appropriate position of the unwinder, such as near the tension roller or on the transmission path of the coil. When the coil is subjected to tension, the tension sensor will generate corresponding electrical or physical signals, which can accurately reflect the current tension value.

Signal processing: The signal detected by the tension sensor will be transmitted to the tension controller. The tension controller is the core component of the tension control system, which processes, analyzes and calculates the received signal. The tension controller will compare the actual tension value detected with the preset tension value to obtain the deviation between the two.

Control decision: Based on the tension deviation, the tension controller decides how to adjust the working state of the uncoiler to correct the tension deviation according to the preset control algorithm. Common control algorithms include proportional-integral-differential (PID) control algorithm. For example, if the actual tension is less than the preset tension, the tension controller may issue a command to increase the output torque of the uncoiler or adjust the brake device to subject the coil to a greater pulling force, thereby increasing the tension; conversely, if the actual tension is greater than the preset tension, the tension controller will correspondingly reduce the output torque of the uncoiler or release the brake device to reduce the tension.

Execution link: The execution part of the tension control system usually includes devices such as clutches, brakes or motors. According to the instructions issued by the tension controller, these execution devices will adjust the reel speed or braking force of the unwinder, thereby changing the unwinding speed and tension of the coil, so that the actual tension gradually approaches the preset tension value. For example, when the tension needs to be increased, the clutch may be engaged more tightly, or the brake may apply a greater braking torque; when the tension needs to be reduced, the clutch may be appropriately relaxed, or the brake may reduce the braking torque.

Through the above continuous detection, signal processing, control decision and execution links, the tension control system of the unwinder can dynamically adjust the tension of the coil in real time to ensure that the coil is always kept within the appropriate tension range during the unwinding process, avoiding problems such as excessive tension causing coil breakage or too little tension causing coil relaxation and deviation, thus ensuring the smooth progress of the production process and the stability of product quality. Unwinder tension control systems of different types and application scenarios may differ in specific structure and control method, but the overall working principle is basically similar.
